The client developed a need for office space to be used primarily during maintenance operations by the contractors.

We were approached by the client to refurbish a disused industrial testing laboratory, with a combination of brick and sheet metal cladded walls, to create office space and meeting rooms to comply with strict thermal and acoustic requirements because of the noisy industrial environment.

This was achieved in the following ways:

  • An internal skin was added to the existing metal sheet wall consisting of 14kg/m³ Cavitybat insulation between 2 layers of 12,5mm Gyproc RhinoBoard,
  • Underneath the existing metal sheet roof we added a layer of 75mm thick Cavitybat insulation and a layer 12,5mm Gyproc RhinoBoard.
  • Both the ground and first floor have a suspended ceiling with Isover Soundlite ceiling tiles.  Double glazing was used in all the windows.
